Retreat Day #1

Retreat Day #1

Good morning!  This is my first day on my solo retreat.  I have a small deck outside my door, with a view of the lake....and lots of wildlife!  This morning I’ve already been greeted by a beaver (camera shy) and this Rose-breasted Grosbeak!  (Identified for me by my cousin Keith, the family birder)
🌸
🌸
The Spiritual symbolism for this bird is related to family and the healing of old wounds.  I love that this bird shows up at the retreat center I’m at, which is run by my mother’s cousin! I reached out to my cousin to identify the bird; and I’ll get to see my mother’s other cousin later in the week.  It’s so interesting to see the connections and symbolism of nature and how we can use it in our lives.

This retreat comes a few weeks before my birthday and allows me time and space to reflect on this last year’s journey, as well as set intentions for the upcoming year.  It is a peaceful place that feeds my soul. This time,  when nobody needs anything from me...I just get to be. I can follow my own flow, no “shoulds” or commitments.  I can meditate, walk, journal, sing, read, sleep, create (pics and videos).  It is so easy in the hustle of daily life, to forget to take time to listen to the part of us that needs time to rejuvenate. It is amazing how this “separate time and place” opens up an awareness and shift in thinking that I can bring home with me.  Many of the things I choose to document, are wonderful reminders of what I learn and experience here. So, when I’m back in regular life, I can cultivate the feelings of happiness and joy, just by looking at what I’ve documented.

Consider whether you could benefit from a retreat of some kind. It could be as simple as a 1/2 day at home, local botanical gardens, the woods, or the beach. Anywhere that you can designate time to just follow your instincts for the day will work.  Being in a new space can help to see things in a fresh way.
🌸

May we all take time and space to retreat from our daily tasks and settle in to follow our own flowing nature. 💕🙏🏻
